Richard Wright fue tecladista y fundador de Pink Floyd en los años sesenta. Se le da menor crédito a su trabajo y aportación con el grupo por ser de perfil menos protagónico; sin embargo, escribió y participó en muchos de los temas favoritos de culto en el grupo. Canciones como “The Great Gig in the Sky” o “Time” no habrían logrado la misma forma sin contar con su presencia e Incluso, muchos de estos contaron con su aportación vocal como “Arnold Layne”. Aunque su trabajo se ensombreció por ser menos notorio que el de compañeros como Roger Waters o David Gilmour, la formación en el jazz e improvisación que llevó al grupo fue esencial en el sonido característico del grupo.

Rick Wright murió el 15 de septiembre de 2008 por cáncer en los pulmones. Tenía 65 años en ese momento y trabajaba en un álbum solista que pretendía componer una serie de piezas instrumentales. Es por eso que el día de hoy decidimos celebrar a Richard Wright, el menos protagónico de la alineación aunque también el que tenía la conciencia de que Pink Floyd, como grupo, funcionaba mejor en conjunto y no por separado.
